As AI automates the white-collar jobs, the trades are becoming cooler — and more financially attractive. Shorter study period, real work, real demand. You can't outsource a wire or a pipe to a language model.
If my daughter were graduating today, I'd recommend she become a nurse — the aging population is only getting bigger, and all of those people are going to need care: health services, support, someone who shows up. That demand isn't going anywhere, and it isn't getting automated.
Electricians are killing it too. Every building, every EV, every solar panel, every server rack needs one. AI can write the code. It can't run the conduit.
Right now I hear kids wanting to become content creators — and look at me here, working on my own branding with content. The smart money is in the trades.
I think a solid business is a trade school. There are aging tradesmen who I'm sure would love to pass on the knowledge.
Trade schools also need to improve their branding. Something that makes an apprenticeship look like the smart bet it actually is — because right now, it is.
